There are many reasons to seek massage therapy. Pain relief is likely one of the primary goals when searching for bodywork. Whether you have back pain, arthritis, a sports injury, rotator cuff issues, nerve impingement, sleep disruption, headaches or TMJ, massage is effective at reducing pain and facilitating the healing of soft tissue.
Massage is also effective at restoring the integrated function of muscles, connective tissue and joints. This translates into pain-free joint range of motion and restored functional movement patterns throughout the body.
I often work with people who have lost the ability to do simple functional tasks comfortably, people who are adapting to pain somehow in their daily lives. No matter our age, our bodies have a unique history of injury and trauma that accumulates until symptomatic. Bodywork seeks to support the body in returning to balance. It stimulates the body’s innate ability to heal.
Traditions of bodywork can be found throughout the history of medicine. Both Eastern and Western techniques of manual therapy have evolved and sometimes merged into modern day practices of bodywork. More than simply a spa treatment, research confirms again and again that massage therapy is a valuable tool for pain management and health care.
I offer massage therapy sessions in a beautiful and private therapeutic space. I use all of the tools I have collected in 20 years of practice, blending both Western and Eastern techniques to address your specific goals and health history.

I offer massage therapy sessions in a beautiful and private therapeutic space. I use all of the tools I have collected in 20 years of practice, blending both Western and Eastern techniques to address your specific goals and health history.
I would like to be your partner in taking care of yourself, and my intention in creating Athens Massage Lab is to create a comfortable and familiar therapeutic space for advanced bodywork, a place where you easily come for pain relief and deep relaxation.
Sessions are 60, 75, 90 or 120 minutes depending on your needs. I practice nueromuscular and myofascial techniques that use pressure, depth, and specificity to resolve the cycle of muscular spasm and pain. I also incorporate gentle joint mobilization to facilitate a lasting change in the tissue.
We will discuss your goals in seeking bodywork and take a brief health history before your session.
